Fresh Air

Jaded with the same old. Been exploring outside Usualville. Exploring is easy these days. It's great.

You realize the bigness of what's available now. So much. Suddenly this branch's hanging lower, within reach , fruit ripe and ready for plucking. For free. For , fuck it , stealing.

How's the music industry making a go of it ? And how are musicians making a go of it ?

It's all at a funny place. Quality is up across pretty much any genre but ,relative to that, rewards are so much lower on average. There's new ideas. There's new technologies. And there's new people.Talented people.Lots of them.A planet of them.Who cuts through this clutter ? Tough as hell must be.

Now this sounds silly and is probably  a stretch  but could what i am seeing lately with my new CD's have to do with declining business ?  The cover flaps of the last few CD's i've bought have tended to come unhinged . Anyone else noticed this with theirs ? Sub standard material or what ?
And so :  finally on to Electronica , especially ambient, chill out , trip-hop , basically down/ mid-tempo stuff. Just walking the beginner steps now, testing the Essentials water. But yeah , I was missing a good thing !

Enjoying Air's Moon Safari. And bemused to find it's an Electronica classic already so dated it got a 10th Anniversary edition fully  four years ago - which makes even that quite dated as these things go i guess ! One review talked about music whose  'familiarity breeds not contempt but nonchalance'. Nicely put (though what's OK Computer doing in there?). To think I hadn't even heard of Air , like , two weeks ago , ha !

Kelly Watch The Stars  -like the album -  is light , bright , spacey. Chill out ? You bet !
